Out of Body Experience. What is it and does it exist?
Out of the body experience is a condition of seeing a second self-outside one’s own physical body.
Most people who have shared their experiences claim they saw a second self, having a conversation from a distance.
Neuroscience have however described it as a sleep disorder or mental illness. To the listener, it’s like a fictitious fairy-tale, but disturbing to the person who experienced it.
In an attempt to untangle the truth (if any) I was fortunate to engage with and eventually photograph a few select individuals. The background was especially prepared for this purpose in order to accomplish the ethereal and exquisite glow often associated with the experience. This project aims to explore the facts, myths and various narratives that are often associated with the condition and to ascertain if there is any scientific explanation for it.
